Each section below will list steps on how to clear the browser's cache. Please note that your browser version may vary. The versions used for this instructional set are Firefox 52, Chrome 57, and Internet Explorer 11.
Firefox v55
- Launch Firefox and click on the menu icon in the upper right side of the browser window, highlighted below
- Click the History icon, highlighted below
- Click on Clear Recent History, as shown below
- When the Clear Recent History window appears, select ‘Everything’ from the ‘Time range to clear’ drop list as shown below, and select only the checkbox next to ‘Cache’ in the Details list (shown below).
- Wait a few moments and close the browser window. Reopen Firefox to use the browser with a cleared cache.
Chrome v61
- Launch Chrome and click on the menu icon in the upper right side of the browser window, highlighted below
- Hover over "History" and then click the History submenu item that appears, as shown below
- A new page will open in Chrome. Click the "Clear browsing data" link highlighted below.
- When the Clear browsing data window appears, select the checkbox for "Cached images and files" and then click on Clear browsing data, as shown below
- Wait a few moments and close the browser window. Reopen Chrome to use the browser with a cleared cache.
Internet Explorer 11
- Launch Internet Explorer and click your keyboard's Alt button to expand IE's menu, as shown below
- Click on Tools, then click on the "Delete browsing history…" option shown below
- When the Delete Browsing History window appears, select the checkbox for "Temporary Internet files and website files" and then click on Delete, as shown below
- Wait a few moments and close the browser window. Reopen Internet Explorer to use the browser with a cleared cache.
